21 Experiences to Add to Your 2017 Travel Bucket List

It's that time of year again – holiday wish lists, lists of New Year's resolutions, bucket lists. Our 2017 travel bucket list was inspired by photos taken by passports participants on their tours over the years. How many of these are already on your bucket list? How many have you crossed off already?

1. Visit Neuschwanstein Castle in Germany

Cinderella’s castle in Disney World and Sleeping Beauty’s castle in Disneyland were both inspired by Neuschwanstein.

2. Cross Abbey Road in London

3. Ski the Alps in Switzerland

4. Go cycling through Amsterdam

5. Swim in the Blue Lagoon in Iceland

6. Ride a gondola in Venice, Italy

7. Walk through Claude Monet’s Garden in Giverny, France

The artist’s former home are where he produced his famous water lily paintings.

8. See the Catacombs in Paris

The underground ossuaries hold the remains of more than SIX MILLION people.

9. Trek the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu in Peru

10. Stand under the Eiffel Tower in France

11. Catch a soccer game in Spain

12. Visit the Pantheon

The 2,000 year old former Roman temple is the best preserved Ancient Roman monument.

13. Visit Mount Vesuvius

Mount Vesuvius is the only active volcano on mainland Europe. It is best known because of the eruption in A.D. 79 that destroyed the cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum.

14. Soak in one of Budapest's thermal baths in Hungary

Budapest sits on a terrain of almost 125 thermal springs baths which are visited by those who want to feel the healing power of the water.

15. Explore a cave

Any cave, really. This photo was taken inside a lava cave in Iceland!

16. See the Colosseum

17. Look out onto the beaches of Normandy

The D-Day beaches are the historic site of Operation Overlord – where on June 6, 1944, 156,000 Allied soldiers stormed the beaches to begin the invasion of western Europe during World War II.

18. Visit Stonehenge in England

Stonehenge is the best-known prehistoric monument in Europe. It was built about 5,000 years ago for reasons that still remain a mystery.

19. Attach a lock to the Lovelock bridge

20. Take a selfie with Mona Lisa at the Louvre

21. Take advantage of some of the world’s best photo ops

This last one applies to more than one specific place, of course – but the brightly colored picturesque houses of Manarola in Italy overlooking the Mediterranean Sea is a photo op you can’t miss!
