A Letter of Appreciation to Teachers
Today, as we celebrate National Teacher Appreciation Day, we’d like to say “thank you” to teachers. It takes a special kind of person to be a great teacher. You don’t do your job for the money or the recognition.
You aspire to make a difference in the lives of students, even just one student. You teach for those “lightbulb” moments when a struggling student finally gets it. You teach to help children find their passions and to be the good they see in the world.
Being a teacher is challenging. Your job starts long before students enter their classrooms, and continues on once they leave. You’re given limited resources in which you’re expected to make miracles, and you often do.
You’ve learned to adapt - to each and every student - as well as to this ever-changing global world. You know what it means to be a 21st-century educator, and you know how important it is to help your students grow to be globally competent, 21st-century citizens. Great teachers know how to create a global classroom, but exceptional teachers know that nothing compares to immersing your students in different cultures on an educational tour abroad.
A special thank you to those teachers who have let us be a part of your students’ global education for the last 50 years.
