touring Italy after the death of Giani Paolo II

Posted by Carol on 04/03/2005

Our group just returned from Rome yesterday, April 2. I know for a fact that the Sistine Chapel will be closed, but am not sure about the rest of the Vatican. We heard conflicting information, such as, everything except St. Peter's Square would be closed to tourists. I would suggest that you go online to the Vatican's website to receive your information.

Rome/Vatican City was our last tour before returning to the States. The evening before we left (and after our 7 hour walking tour) we returned for the candlelight vigil. What an experience.
