Ecuador and a great guide named Paul Aguilar Ortega

Posted by Bob Chase on 03/23/2013

When the State Department issued a warning to Americans traveling in the Machu Pichu area we were compelled to cancel our trip there and on the fly, PASSPORTS arranged a trip instead to Ecuador. Our guide, Paul Aguilar Ortega, was fantastic! He possessed a great knowledge of the country including politics, flora, fauna, volcanism, and more. Ecuador uses the American dollar as currency so no foreign currency exchange fees were incurred. Food was fantastic. Hiking at elevations as high as 15,000 ft was a bit of a strain for a few travelers, but it was well worth it. There is so much to see and do.....science experiments at the equator were a blast. And speaking of blasts, we saw a volcanic eruption. Kudos to PASSPORTS for rearranging our trip at the last minute!
